Peru

Well let me be the first to open this topic and tell you about the mystical land of Peru and the fantastic time you will have visiting this wonderful land, its historic sites and warm friendly people.

Firstly, the Incan history is the main focus of most tours and after 2-3 days in the capital of Lima, from which you can tour the Paracus Islands to see penguins, sea lions, dolphins (if your lucky) Pelicans and many birds in their natural habitat and then onto to Nazca, which can all be included in a one day tour.

Cusco should be the next stop, a wonderful historic city in the Andes which was the Incan capital and is usually most tourists base for touring Machu Picchu, the sacred valley and the cusco citidel. Plaza de Armes is the main square and there are lots of hotels to suit your budget. If you can afford it I recommend the Casa Cartegina Hotel very expensive but possibly the best hotel in the world.

As wonderful and mystical as Cusco, Machu Picchu and the sacred valley all are, the most mystical place by far is Lake Titikaka and the town of Puno which is accessed by several tour buses daily from Cusco and takes about 8 hours through the most fantastic scenery of the Andes making important historical stops along the way and is excellent fun. I would recommend at least 3 days in Puno and the highlight is visiting the UROS natives whose tribe lives on artificial islands that they build from reeds and float on the Lake.

Ayyahuasca is available from Shamans in Cusco but be careful as the experience is powerful and there are shamans who are really catholic priests trying to excorcise your demons due to their strong beliefs, better to go to the jungle area of Iquitos to experience this properly.

If anyone has any questions feel free. By the way I am from the UK but have lived in Asia for the past 25 years in thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, malaysia and Philippines and I will do some subjects on those areas in future. Ciao :) Love and peace
